How EACHTICK / COMPLETE BAR Mode Work in VT Trading Systems:
"Each Tick" mode has not been completely removed from within the VT Trading Systems options. However, it has been disabled for actions related to auto-trading.
The reason behind disabling "Each Tick" mode for auto-trading is as such:
Too many false trade signals were being triggered and hence trades being placed during the candle formation. What would happen is that an OPEN signal was given, the trade placed, but then the OPEN signal was never confirmed (ie: it disappeared from the chart) and the OPEN trade was left OPEN even though the signal had disappeared. The trade would not be closed because the signal was "unconfirmed" ... no reversal (or CLOSE signal) was given at that time. There were many, many complaints about this.
If you are working within a certain chart interval (ie: 1 hour candles), it is usually best to be only interested in what the candles look like at the close of each candle period, not what price action has taken place "inside the candle".
Therefore, VT has designed the auto-trading functions to work in "Complete Bar" mode only. This limits the VT Trading System (if running in auto-trade mode) to placing a trade only at the closing of a candle of the time interval (ie: 1 hour candles) on which it is launched (started/placed).
As such, trading systems will work in the same way as the past signals' history (visual symbols on the chart such as arrows) that you see scrolling backwards in time on the chart. This helps to maintain accuracy between the auto-trade events and the signals given.
If you wish to auto-trade smaller intervals of time than the candle chart you currently have displayed, you can always place your trading system on a smaller time interval chart to trade the smaller increments of price action. For example, switching the running trading system from a 1 hour chart to a 30 minute or 15 minute chart interval.
Alternatively, you may simply place the trading system on your preferred chart interval and run it in "recommendation mode" so that only visual and/or audio/text alerts are provided (no auto-trades will be entered/exited). While in "recommendation mode", VT does signal the alerts in realtime as they happen (similar to how "Each Tick" mode functioned). This allows you to receive trade signals in the middle of a candle, before the candle has officially closed, so that you can open a position by yourself at your own risk. However, the trading system's final (correct) signals will only be registered (displayed permenantly on the chart) upon completion of the candles in your specified chart interval.
