I have been auto trading using your software and a paper account for about 4 weeks now. Although you have many good features in your software, I would not consider it reliable enough to trade with real money. I have never gone 24 hours without connection breaks that try to reconnect, then time out and do nothing, or the system locks up and then does nothing. Also, you need a way to synchronize your system so that the user's computer knows which positions are open or closed. I consider "eventCount('OpenBuy') etc.". to be a very poor solution to a very real problem. If your programmers would solve the reliability and lockup problems, along with expanding the VT language to be as powerful as your competitors, I would be a satisfied customer and use VT exclusively.
Dennis,
P.S. When you ask people to re-install a copy of the software(as I have seen in several posts), It reinforces the issues that I have about reliability.

Hello,
Dennis: Thank you for voicing your opinion and offering a few suggestions to improve the VT platform.
Myself and the rest of the VT team are aware that the automated trading systems are limited in their current capacity, which is why one of the VT devs has been assigned the lengthy, ongoing task of extensively reviewing other trading platforms' programming languages such as MetaStock, MetaTrader, TradeStation, and Amibroker to explore potential avenues of additional functionality.
There is also currently a VT API in development which will add to the functionality of the VT platform in regards to its automated trading functionality. There is no release date yet for this feature as it requires extensive programming and changes to the VT software, but development is actively underway.
Regards,
Chris

Hello,
Normally, outside links are not allowed, but this is an online encyclopedia and it explains the concept very well ...

Thanks for your reply, Chris. As long as the programmers consider VT to be a work in progress, we are all on the same page. VT has the potential to be the best. :?
